GENERAL HOME SAFETY

Please remember that as we get older we are not as fit as we once were.  Healing takes longer and so the best thing is not to get hurt in the first place!

Think what you are doing!

Do not leave trailing garden hoses, electrical extension leads, If electrical power tools are to be used outside use earth trip protection.

Take care with unattended garden tools, rakes etc.

Take care when lifting, especially if you are not as strong as you once were.  When using stairs, use the handrail.

Never swim alone.

swimming pool safetyVisitors to your home – Never let children swim alone. Make sure you and your visitors use adequate sun protection. Make sure you know where children are. They may be in unfamiliar surroundings and can easily get lost.  Block off unused electrical sockets against little fingers.  Watch out for snakes!

What else can you do?

Start your own neighbourhood watch scheme!

You will make friends, you can work a buddy – buddy system to help each other, and you will all benefit protecting your own community.

Please note!

chimes security paphosIt is not our intention to scare you, just to remind you and make you aware that there are still everyday dangers to face even here in Cyprus.  At home in the UK or your home country all of the above precautions would more than likely be automatic to you.  Now you are here in the sun, you have relaxed and as a result have perhaps “dropped your guard”.

If you have a medical condition ensure that you have some note about your condition on your person to warn others should you be ill or injured.  Also have details of who to contact in case of an emergency.
